Hybrid Infrastructure and OT-IT Security Move to the Core of Cyber Resilience

6 / Ocak / 26

Trellix has released its latest report, “Mind of the CISO: The Future of Cyber Resilience,” revealing a major shift in how organizations are reshaping their cybersecurity strategies. As ransomware, AI-powered attacks, and threats targeting critical infrastructure continue to rise, hybrid infrastructures and OT-IT security integration are becoming central pillars of cyber resilience.

Based on insights from more than 500 Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) worldwide, the report highlights that cyber resilience is no longer defined solely by infrastructure choices. Instead, it requires a combined focus on visibility, automation, threat intelligence, and AI-supported defense approaches working together.

Hybrid Infrastructure Becomes the Foundation of Modern Security Architectures

According to the report, the majority of CISOs now view hybrid infrastructure not as an alternative, but as a strategic necessity.

● 97% of respondents state that hybrid environments offer stronger risk management and cyber resilience compared to purely cloud-based or on-premises models.

● 96% emphasize the critical role of hybrid architectures in addressing regulations, compliance requirements, and data sovereignty concerns.

The report also underlines the importance of security platforms that deliver centralized visibility across distributed and multi-layered environments. Trellix’s XDR approach brings security data from multiple environments into a single framework, enabling a more unified and effective defense strategy for hybrid infrastructures.

OT and IT Security Integration Is No Longer Optional

The integration of Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) security has become unavoidable, particularly for critical sectors such as manufacturing, energy, transportation, and the public sector.

● 96% of CISOs agree that aligning OT and IT security is essential to protecting critical infrastructure.

● Despite this, only 40% plan to invest in OT-IT security initiatives within the next 12 months.

● 88% of respondents acknowledge that OT-IT integration introduces new operational and governance challenges.

The report highlights that overcoming these challenges requires shared threat visibility, behavior-based analytics, and automation across OT and IT environments. Trellix Helix helps organizations contextualize security data from multiple layers, supporting earlier detection of potential attacks.

AI-Driven Threats Are Reshaping Cybersecurity Strategies

The report identifies the top threat areas keeping CISOs awake at night:

● Ransomware and digital extortion attacks (89%)
● Autonomous and agentic AI-driven cyberattacks (88%)
● Targeted attacks against OT systems and critical infrastructure (87%)

As a result, 94% of participants say these evolving threats are forcing them to reassess their current cybersecurity and infrastructure strategies. However, only 47% fully trust AI-based security solutions to defend against fully autonomous AI-driven attacks.

At this point, the report emphasizes the importance of human-AI collaboration in cybersecurity. Trellix’s AI-powered EDR and XDR solutions combine automated analysis with expert oversight, enabling a more balanced, resilient, and sustainable defense model.
