Cybersecurity leader Tenable has published its “2025 Cloud AI Risk Report,” highlighting critical vulnerabilities in AI-powered cloud systems. According to the report, 70% of cloud systems utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) have significant security vulnerabilities. Additionally, cloud workloads integrated with AI software pose 20% higher security risks compared to traditional workloads.
AI Adoption Accelerates, Risks Escalate
Key findings indicate that 60% of Azure users actively employ Microsoft Cognitive Services, while 25% of AWS users utilize Amazon SageMaker, and 20% of Google Cloud users rely on Vertex AI Workbench. The rapid increase in AI adoption has concurrently amplified security vulnerabilities, especially due to risky default settings within layered configurations.
Default Settings Pose the Greatest Risk
The report underscores that 77% of Google Cloud users utilize overly permissive default accounts in Vertex AI Workbench. Furthermore, an alarming 91% of Amazon SageMaker users fail to disable the default open root access, significantly heightening security risks.
